The Northern Westchester Joint Water Works located in Cortlandt Manor, Westchester County, New York seeks an experienced Operations Director.
The Operations Director is charged with the overall administration and management of the technical operations of the Northern Westchester Joint Water Works two water treatment facilities and associated distribution systems, along with related operations. The position will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of long range goals, the efficient allocation and use of joint water works resources, and the recommendation and management of the capital budget and capital projects. The position is also charged with ensuring compliance with Federal, State and County regulations, and to proficiently use modern office computer equipment and software (Windows applications) to accomplish work tasks. The incumbent will exercise both direct and indirect supervision over a large number of technical and labor class employees involved in filtering and distribution of potable water to our constituent communities, and will report all activities directly to the Board of Trustees.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil, Sanitary or Environmental engineering and five years experience in the operation, maintenance, design or repair of water works facilities, with two years in a supervisory capacity. Possession of a current New York State Water Treatment Plant Operator’s 1A license is highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate their leadership experience and ability to effectively achieve goals and objectives with staff in a motivating manner.
This is a competitive civil service position. The selected candidate will receive a provisional appointment and be required to pass a civil service test.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
