CH2M HILL OMI is seeking a qualified candidate for a Project Manager I position. The Project Manager I will organize and direct the operation, maintenance and monitoring of groundwater treatment facilities in Syracuse, Sidney, and Buffalo, New York.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze operational process control procedures and institute changes when necessary to achieve full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory agency requirements as defined in permits
• Maintain accurate operational records and prepare reports required by the client and all regulatory agencies
• Communicate effectively, both written and verbally with supervisors and subordinates • Administer and monitor operational budgets to attain financial objectives
• Establish and monitor objectives for subordinate salaried personnel and performance objectives for treatment plants within his or her responsibility • Maintain technical operational skills at the highest level and remain informed of the latest developments in the field
• Establish cooperative relationships with subordinates, vendors, contractors, and all others contacted during work assignments

Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Five years experience in the operation and maintenance of water or wastewater facilities, one of which must have been at the supervisory level
• Certification as a Water/Wastewater Operator in New York. (A 1-year grace period to attain that certification is acceptable if reciprocity or relocation is involved.)

Preferred Qualifications:
• 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
• A thorough understanding of the technical aspects of groundwater treatment facilities and demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills
• Must be able to use a telephone, email and written reports effectively

Water Professionals Wanted!

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) is looking for engineers interested in a professional career in the field of public health and environmental protection.  Openings for these positions are often available in the Bureau of Water Supply Protection in Troy, NY and may also occur at any one of more than a dozen offices located statewide.  

The NYSDOH uses the Sanitary Engineer title series to fill these positions.  The Sanitary Engineer title includes an assistant level (salary grade 20) and senior level (grade 24).  Assistant Sanitary Engineers currently start at an annual salary of $49,192; Senior Sanitary Engineers currently start at $60,717.

Both of these titles are competitive, continuously recruited civil service positions and applicants are encouraged to apply at any time.  There is no written test for these titles, but if you meet the minimum qualifications, your education and experience will be evaluated against the general background/critical activities of the position to develop a score and rank you on a list.
