CITY OF NORWICH- Meter Reader/Water System Maintainer

The City of Norwich Department of Public Works has an opening for a Meter
Reader/ Water System Maintainer. Under general supervision accurately
records production & distribution meters at private residences, business
establishments and city buildings. Assist in the maintenance and repair of
the water system. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or
possession of an equivalency diploma and one year of experience in the
operation of a water distribution system or one year of experience in meter
reading. Possession of a class B-CDL required at time of appointment.
Possession of a Grade D Water Distribution Operators certificate issued by
the New York State Department of Health required within one year of
appointment.

Duties include assisting in the operation and maintenance of a Grade II-A water treatment plant and a Grade III wastewater treatment plant; recording meters & taking daily readings. One year of experience as a licensed Meter Reader/Maintainer or licensed Water System Maintainer and one year traineeship in the operation of a Grade II A water treatment plant or a Grade III wastewater treatment plant.
