Conference Round-Up

By Pat Scalera

Once again our members arose to the occasion and joined us in Lake Placid for another three-day conference. With so many changes in our near future and security issues at hand, utilities need to evolve to meet these challenges and at this conference many of these issues were addressed. We believe the NYRWA Annual Technical Conference provided outstanding training opportunities and still allowed time for fellowship and a wee bit of fun.The Lake Placid Resort served as a wonderful host facility. The 88 exhibiting booths at the Olympic Center opened Monday morning and held our attendees interests through Tuesday afternoon. I want to thank all the vendors for providing us with the products and services that make our jobs more efficient and for the cost savings that we can pass along to our customers. Please join me in thanking the Associate Members that participated at our Lake Placid event - they are listed on page #.To all of our attendees at this year's conference I certainly hope we met your expectations. Of course, we are always open to any suggestions or criticisms you might have. These sessions are tailored to the needs of the small systems. It is our hope that the training provided has prepared you to meet the future challenges and demands with confidence. With this newly gained knowledge and working together, we will continue improving the quality of life in our local communities, as well as in the great State of New York. The NYRWA Board and Staff would like to extend our congratulations to all the award winners and nominees, which are featured on page #. These accomplished professionals are long overdue to receive this honor. We are proud of their achievements. We, at the NYRWA wish to acknowledge the support shown by all in Lake Placid and want each and every one of you to know how very much it is appreciated. We believe all components essential to make this conference one of the best, were in place. Everyone's time and cooperation were greatly valued. We are happy and proud to say that our services and training have greatly expanded over the years to provide you, our members, with the tools necessary to meet your needs in your quest for clean drinking water. The NYRWA has a staff of 14 dedicated professionals that are at your disposal and we look forward to continuing to serve you. Give us a call.

Finally, as always, as this conference came to a close - we began work on next year's conference, which will take place at the Adams Mark Hotel in Buffalo, NY from May 17-21, 2003. We hope you will make plans to join us.
