NYRWA TA Provider Position

The New York Rural Water Association has an immediate opening for a Technical Assistance (TA) Provider, covering the central and western regions of New York State.

Employment Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of (5) years experience in the operation and maintenance of a Public Water System.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across central and western NY
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with operation specialists, decision makers, regulatory agencies, and coworkers
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial, managerial, and operational characteristics necessary to effectively run a water utility
  • A well-rounded knowledge of both water treatment and distribution system operation, maintenance, and trouble shooting of issues
  • A Grade IIA & D NYS Water Operator Certification are required

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Travels extensively across central and western NY to offer on-site technical assistance to both municipal and privately owned water systems such as village systems and mobile home parks
  • Provides assistance in all areas of operations, including maintenance, financial, security, health, and environmental issues: typical work – line locating, leak detection, disinfection issues, emergency response plans, etc…
  • Prioritizes requests based on degree of health risk versus routine maintenance items
  • Writes (2) technical magazine articles per year
  • Completes all monthly logs, travel vouchers, and mileage reports
  • Assists with workload and activities relating to the NYRWA Annual Technical Training Workshop & Exhibition
