New York State Public Water System

Emergency Response Functional Exercise

Event Description: The one-day functional exercise (FE) will provide the opportunity for participants to test emergency response capabilities, specifically but not limited to: communications, resource management, documentation, and mutual aid and assistance utilizing a hypothetical incident scenario that affects public water systems.

Who Should Attend: New York State public water system operators, local health departments, local emergency managers, water sector response partner associations, as well as other local, state and federal agencies that would be involved in the response and recovery to an incident affecting public water systems.

Event Schedule:

 Check-in: 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

 Functional Exercise Overview/Presentations: 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

 Functional Exercise: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Participants can participate at the State Preparedness Training Center or remotely from their normal place of work. The planners will contact participants to discuss the FE in further detail after they register.

Training Hours: Licensed public water system operators will earn 6.5 contact hours for attending the event. An application will be submitted for engineers to earn continuing education training hours for their participation in the event.
